Abstract: With the ravaging wave of COVID-19, the education sector has been transposed to virtual platforms. In the context of Bangladesh, private universities came forward to adapt to the new normal. This study attempts to focus on the teaching of literature using online platforms. It has been designed to be conducted through a mixed method. Twelve leading private universities in Bangladesh and thirty-two teachers of distinct designations primarily responded to the questionnaire. Collected data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22. Besides, face-to-face interview sessions have been conducted with five private university teachers to get a detailed study. Thus, the study seeks to expose the difficulties and challenges of teaching literature online during the pandemics of COVID-19. It also attempts to find out why teaching literature online became slower and more tedious; teaching drama and non-fiction more challenging; students got distracted more often, and so on. Moreover, it tries to evaluate the real causes of trouble due to the unavailability of online literary texts and the problematic evaluation processes. Finally, this research work has synchronized all the hindrances on the way to online teachinglearning of literature during the new normal situation and ends with some suggestions to overcome the situation.
